Whale Memorials

As time passes, we are beginning to lose Whale musicians and friends who either performed with Whale, or were connected with Whale in one form or another over the years. Therefore, I decided to create this Whale Memorials page to honor our dear friends who have gone to heaven to start a brand new band of their own. By doing so, we will forever be able to see their smiling faces at a click of a mouse.
Hopefully, we won't have to add people to this page very often, but for those who are being honored here, we can only hope that if they are not resting in peace, they are up there jamming with others during the longest encore ever.

It is with great sadness that our entire WHALE family is mourning the loss of our dear friend, Dennis Melton. Dennis passed away unexpectedly on May 5, 2021. His obituary can be found here. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his entire family, his fellow musician buddies, and all his friends. Rest in Peace, Dennis.

The entire WHALE family is again in mourning after recently experiencing the loss of another historical Whale member, Keith Irwin. For those fans who may not have known Keith, he was one of the original WHALE band members who played trombone and shared his vocals from 1974-1977. Keith was a dear friend to many, especially Whale's trumpeter, Mark Paris, who were close friends for over 50 years. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his entire family, his fellow WHALE buddies, and all his friends. May Keith rest in peace.

It is with great sadness that our entire WHALE family is mourning the loss of our dear friend, Jim Humphrey. For those fans who may not have known Jim as we have, he was one of the original WHALE band members who played trumpet, keyboards, sang vocals, wrote arrangements, fixed chords, drove the band truck when everyone else was too tired, and would commute long distances to do anything for anybody. A true gentleman. He will be sorely missed. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his entire family, his fellow WHALE buddies, and all his friends. Rest in Peace, Jim.
