Dave - Drummer and Lead Vocalist for "Killer Whale"

Musician's Friend Product of the Day

Dave has been playing drums since about 1970 with his first professional performance taking place in Louisville, Ky in 1975. This gig was with a band led by his infamous and crazy Uncle Henry....

....who was a well-known drummer in the Louisville area, taught Dave many tricks of the trade, and infact was instrumental in obtaining Dave's first drumset and his 22" Zidjian Avedis ride cymbal that is still in use today. Thanks Unc! Dave's additional experiences include many performances throughout his schooling years including those in the Mobile Alabama Jazz Festival, as well as competitions in Montreal, Canada.

Dave has played with many area rock bands throughout the late '70s and early '80s including Red, Matrix, Civilian, and Gossamer Wings. He joined Whale in June of 1984 and has been playing as their drummer ever since. Currently the co-owner of Whale, Inc. along with Whale's guitar player, Brian Lantz, Dave has performed in many diverse engagements ranging from a birthday party for Grace Kelly's niece and a Frank Perdue dinner party on the Lady Christina, to countless proms, weddings, and numerous nightclub performances.

Dave's most recent acquisition satisfies a long-lost passion for motorcycles. In Feb 2008, Dave acquired a 2003 Honda Valkyrie. It's monster 1520cc 6-cylinder is a cruising Whale in it's own right. And as luck would have it, the vanity tag "WHALE" had yet to be chosen! If you see this tag cuising around the area, you'll know how it's connected to a piece of Delaware's musical history!!
